Medinea Series

For the end of 2021, Medinea and all its Erasmus+ partners will broadcast the two last modules shot during the Medinea session in Aix-en-Provence in 2021:
Professional Development for Artists – Digital communication
Instant Collective Creation by Fabrizio Cassol – Dramaturgy: a thread of ideas
As usual, these videos are subtitled in Arabic, English and French and broadcasted on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram TV; besides the publication of an article and some documentation on Medinea’s website.

LEARNING ACTIVITIES

Medinea On Air

Through this innovative online training programme, Medinea intends to fight against the obstacles to mobility suffered by young Euro-Mediterranean artists in the current pandemic context. Designed using the most advanced educational resources in the Mediterranean basin; it will enable young artists to train with high-level speakers from the Medinea network (teachers of a musical discipline, coaches, experienced artists, experts in the field of artistic promotion and career development, etc.).
This programme will be available from January 2022.

Mediterranean Youth Orchestra (MYO)

Four Medinea sessions: Led by Fabrizio Cassol, composer and saxophonist: every training session includes a dozen young artists from various backgrounds, including jazz and traditional music of the Mediterranean. These various “constellations” compose works together, that they must then organise into a musical programme and present in concert form at the end of each residency. Fabrizio Cassol will lead the collective and intercultural compositions of young and emerging Mediterranean artists in:
• Tunisia, Sidi Bou Said in production with the Centre for Arab and Mediterranean Music
• Malta, Gozo in production with ARC Research & Consultancy
• France, Aix-en-Provence in production with the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence
• Italy, Nuoro in production with the Ente Musicale di Nuoro

And for the first time, Medinea will support the Symphonic Session of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra under the direction of Duncan Ward which will take place in July 2022 during the Festival of Aix-en-Provence thanks to the support of the Erasmus+ programme of the European Commission.

Professional meetings

In addition to creating spaces for dialogue between the different stakeholders of the project, professional meetings will as usual enable the members to permanently assess the ongoing projects and question the network’s action. In addition to that, a conference will take place during the 2022 Festival d’Aix. That public conference aims to share the results of the online training programme launched a few months earlier.
