Katarina HABE works as an assistant professor of psychology at the University of Ljubljana Academy of Music. Her scientific and professional endeavours are centred around the development of strategies for successful music performance (i.e. motivation, self-esteem, coping with stress, attention, and memory), with special emphasis on the musicians’ ability to master performance anxiety. In her doctoral thesis, she investigated the influence of music on cognitive functioning, with a focus on the Mozart effect. Her approach combines the analytical qualities of a psychologist and the intuitive creative mind of a musician. She has presented her work at many psychological and music congresses, and in scientific journals (e.g. Horizons of Psychology, Frontiers in Psychology, Brain Topography, International Journal of Psychophysiology), and regularly collaborates with the Institute Knoll for Music Therapy. Katarina is also an active musician: she has been singing professionally for over 25 years as part of the Katrinas vocal group, which she founded. Her creativity flourishes in song-writing as well. She is convinced that one of the key functions of music is to increase the holistic well-being of humans.
