Born in 1993, Martino De Franceschi was exposed to different musical genres since his childhood: classical music, jazz and swing music, Italian popular songs, blues, American folk music, and then also rock, funk, and pop. At the age of 16, he decides to pick up the bass guitar and at 20 he switches to the double bass, focusing mainly on jazz and pop music and deciding to start mastering the instrumental technique.
After the bachelor degree with honors in Jazz bass guitar at the conservatory of Mantova at the moment, he is attending the master course in Jazz at the Conservatory of Vicenza with double bassist Salvatore Maiore. In the last years, it became interested also in classical music and he started studying classical bowing technique with Gergely Jàrdànyi. He attended summer workshops of Tuscia jazz (2016) and Nuoro Jazz (2017 and 2018) and he attended several masterclasses (Reuben Rogers, Kenny Barron, Paolino Dalla Porta, Orlando Le Fleming, Joe Lovano, Dario Deidda, and many others). Meanwhile, he starts performing and recording with several musicians from his hometown, Verona, and from around the north of Italy, accumulating experience in different context and from several musical cultures.
His aim in the future is to combine all these various influences and condense them into new compositions that also include a versatile approach to instrumental technique that he has developed in recent years.
