Giovanni Chirico is a saxophone player from Southern of Italy.
Graduated both in Classical and Jazz Music, he studied with musicians like Joe Lovano, Emanuele Cisi, Enrico Rava, Bob Stoloff, Marshall Allen, Dado Moroni, and others.
Since he was born he has been involved in the traditional community of his region, and in the years he developed an interest in the customs and traditions of the Mediterranean Area.
He joined several bands and started travelling through Europe, meeting artists from the Oriental world such as Amir Elsaffar, Zied Zouari, Stephan Galland, Ahmad Al-Qatib, and many more, and playing through Europe and South America.
In 2018 he joined Medinea Network, and he took part in different Intercultural Creation Sessions in Aix-en-Provence and Hammamet.
Also in love with contemporary and electronic music, he moved for a while to Berlin, where he got in touch with the Avant-rock scene, touring with a band through Germany and East Europe.

His first try to combine all his interests is condensed in BASES, his first “power trio” album, released in 2019.
Nowadays Giovanni is working on a solo project, with his baritone saxophones and analogues, focusing on feelings of captivity and their likely consequences, called LAND-eSCAPES.
