Oscar Viret

Oscar is a young french trumpet player based in Paris. Grown-up in a family of musicians, he started playing the trumpet at the age of 7 and learned a lot with his father, a jazz double bass player. He studied classical music with Eric Aubier and Brice Pichard at Montreuil’s conservatory and got involved seriously in jazz from the age of 15. He then received classes from Fabien Mary, Stephane Payen, Romain Clerc-Renaud, Emil Spányi and attended various master classes in Jazz in Marciac, Jazz à Vienne and Nuoro Jazz Festival where he received a merit scholarship.
Oscar is a curious musician, who aims to explore composition techniques and innovative sounds.
In 2020 he created with pianist Daniel Jouravsky and drummer Tamino Edener « Katena », an electronic ensemble. He plays in a familial trio « Trium Viret » with his sister Adele Viret on cello and his father Jean-Philippe Viret on double-bass. He also had the chance to go on stage alongside international musicians such as Emmanuel Bex, Tom Harrell, Francesco Ciniglio, Minino Garay.

Oscar will continue his jazz studies at the CNSM de Paris from September 2021.
