Intercultural Creation Session
Drummer and composer
Stéphane Galland was born into a family of musicians and received his first drums at the age of three. At 9, he joined the Huy Conservatory in Belgium and started playing jazz with pianist Eric Legnini. At 13, he has the opportunity to play with the best jazz musicians in Belgium and develops a certain interest in the world of jazz. Always in search of new experiences, he met Pierre Vandormael, Fabrizio Cassol and Michel Hatzigeorgiou and creates, with the last two, the jazz band AKA MOON, whose success is certain. During the summer of 2011, he founded his own project “LOBI”, which is a meeting of some of the most sought after musicians of different traditions: Magik Malik on flute and Vocal (Guadeloupe / Ivory Coast), Tigran Hamasyan (Armenia ), Petar Ralchev (Bulgaria), Misirli Ahmet (Turkish percussionist) and Carles Benavent (Spanish bassist). In 2018, he starts an album and a tour with his second personal project “(the mystery of) KEM” with different musicians from new generations. Stéphane Galland has also played and recorded with many well-known artists from different backgrounds such as Joe Zawinul, Joe Lovano or Mark Turner, as well as with various bands using new techniques such as Dhafer Youssef or Nelson.
