L’Académie du Festival d’Aix proposes to the future professional musicians and singers having a sensibility to the pedagogy a mediation course to address issues surrounding transmission and introduction into the music for young and “remote” audiences. From 12 to14 November 2016 at the Darius Milhaud Conservatoire of Aix-en-Provence, Mark Withers, community education project leader for LSO Discovery, led a workshop on outreach skills for singers based on improvisation and creation techniques to touch young people and those unable to go to performances. The Relay musicians put the lessons learned into practice with young pupils from the IME ESCAT, a medico-educational institute for developmentally disabled young people in Marseille.
