Ente Musicale di Nuoro hosts a new intercultural creation session of the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, within the stimulating frame of the 30th Nuoro Jazz Festival. During two weeks, under the coaching of Fabrizio Cassol, jazzman and composer, 10 young Mediterranean musician-improvisers experiment ensemble life in creation before the closing performance programmed by the Nuoro Jazz Festival.

For this session, the role of music heritage in contemporary music composition will be emphasised by taking Monteverdi’s music as inspiration. Baroque repertoire offers an interesting playing field, by enabling improvisation thanks to its flexible contours, while refering to an ancient heritage. Revisiting Monteverdi’s sacred music with the different aesthetics inherent to the participants’ various cultural backgrounds and musical experience is the focus of this session.

Co-produced by the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra and the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence.
