A multi-faceted training course centered on musical outreaching that brings together different artists – in terms of aesthetics, working methods, disciplines, inspirations and cultures – under the direction of Mark Withers,  clarinettist with extensive experience in outreaching as the coordinator of participatory educational projects at the London Symphony Orchestra Discovery.

This video was created through two phases of filming: the first one during the session in January 2020, which allowed us to collect the testimonies of Mark Withers, Sarah Théry and Étienne Fauré. These testimonials allow us to better understand how the sessions take place, what an artist can learn or deepen with the mentor or the other participating creators and also what the experience of several sessions can have as positive repercussions on the artistic path and practice.
The second moment of filming was during the MômAix Festival in October 2020, during which two former participants, very involved in music outreach, presented the pedagogical show ”Vibrations”. These two moments allow us to better understand how the skills acquired and the experimentation with the audience during the sessions can lead to the realisation of a concrete project.

During this training artists learn, exchange and experiment with the tools and ways of doing musical outreach action to improve their practice in transmitting to and interacting with audiences. The Mediterranean Youth Orchestra and the Festival d’Aix producers of the session, encourage selected creative teams and interpreters by offering them the opportunity to practice with Passerelles’ partners and different audiences.
